Subtle PG-13 Lies
It's always interesting to see what films draw teenagers. A year ago, Juno was the hottest thing. Last fall it was Twilight. So what film has their attention now?

Last Tuesday a film was released that I predict will be one of the next cult classics of this generation. The film is Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist. Like Juno and Twilight, the film has a PG-13 rating. But this is one PG-13 film that has me wondering what the MPAA is smoking.

Can you hear the fiddle playing?

Dale (my husband) had an interesting conversation with our son Caiden, age 3.5 years the other night. Here's how it went:

Caiden: Daddy, please sleep with me.

Dale: Caiden, we don't sleep with you but we are right next door if you need us.

Caiden: Yeah, I'll think of something I want and I'll cry "momma, momma" and she'll come and get it for me and I'll see if she'll sleep with me.

What? Of course, Caiden doesn't realize that Dale will share his secret with me. Guess, I've been being played like a fiddle lately.

Have you ever been "played" by your child?

I can so hear him saying that!

And oh yes, I get 'played' on a daily basis too.

That little fiddle player also knows that his Momma loves him enough to come when he needs help. (How is that for the bright side?)

When the kid wants my attention, but I am "busy" (checking my email or something probably not important), I have a habit of saying "One more minute!"

The other night, we said it was time for him to go to bed. His reply? "One more minute!"

  • Our Inspiration
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9
